NYU holds its ground in the No. 1 spot. While All-Americans Morgan Uhlhorn and Vivian Kane have yet to race, the Violets that have raced have had strong outings. Coming up, NYU heads to the John McNichols Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana, for a preview of the national championship course on Sept. 21, followed by the Lehigh Paul Short Invitational on Oct. 5.
UChicago remains No. 2 in Week 1 after placing three in the top-5 individually and taking the team title at the St. Francis XC Invitational. The Maroons will go head-to-head against NYU at the John McNichols Invitational before heading back to Terre Haute again in November to battle NYU for the national title.
SUNY Geneseo moves up into the No. 3 spot for this week. The Knights had a solid win at the St. John Fisher Rodenbeck Invitational, led by freshman Ari Reback’s individual title.
Rounding out the top-5 are No. 4 MIT and No. 5 Lynchburg. The Engineers leapfrogged the previously fifth-ranked Hornets after finishing a close second to NCAA DI Dartmouth at the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invite (Dartmouth won 25-30). Lynchburg is another top-5 program that will be at the John McNichols Invitational this weekend.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps sits at No.6, with No. 7 Emory, No. 8 Washington (Mo.), No. 9 UW-La Crosse, and No. 10 Johns Hopkins finishing out the top-10.
Further down, Middlebury soars into the top-15, sitting at No. 13 following consecutive wins to start the season. Colorado College also jumps two places from No. 19 to No. 17, while Tufts, Coast Guard, and Carnegie Mellon all move up one spot each to No. 26, No. 27, and No. 28.
Save the date! The 2024 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championships will take place on Saturday, November 23, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Indiana.
